Financial Aid Administrator
About the role
The Financial Aid Administrator is responsible for counseling students and parents on financial aid, representing the University at special events, coordinating the student employment program, managing scholarships, awards, and packages, and performing day-to-day financial aid processes.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and verifies students' financial aid status to determine eligibility
- Resolves conflicting information related to eligibility for all types of aid
- Records and documents all customer service transactions and award-related decisions
- Reviews reports generated from daily transmittal operations to assess and analyze issues such as improper award amounts and eligibility issues; takes a proactive approach to correct the issues, working closely with the Directors
- Completes daily tasks, including but not limited to responding to inquiries via phone and email, providing personal customer service, assisting with mail flow communication, processing of documents such as withdrawals or appeals, and file maintenance
- Participates in recruitment and outreach events as needed
- Provides high-quality customer service either in person, through email, or by phone
- Performs daily transmittal operations related to processing student aid records via external and internal reporting and exporting
- Participates in staff development and training sessions
- Develops relationships with other departments
- Represents the University in a professional manner at all times
- Fulfills academic and other related administrative policies
- Promotes the mission of Tusculum University to all faculty, staff, students, and the community at large
Requirements
- Bachelor degree required and 1 year of experience in the administration of Title IV aid, or an equivalent combination of education, experience, and training in higher education

- The ability to work independently, and as part of a team
- A flexible attitude
- Able to work evenings and weekends as needed
- Knowledge of Title IV aid, Colleague, and SAY and BBAY awarding formulas
- Proficient in computer skills, including Microsoft Office suite
- Valid driver's license and a good driving record
