Finance Tax Intern - Summer 2027 - Dallas Regional Office
Position Summary
The Finance Tax Intern supports the Tax team by assisting with tax compliance, reporting, analysis, and administrative functions. This position provides exposure to corporate, partnership, property, and state tax processes while developing practical experience in tax accounting and compliance. The Finance Tax Intern collaborates with internal team members and external business partners to support tax-related projects, filings, reporting requirements, and operational initiatives.
Essential Functions
- Assists with the preparation of federal, state, local, partnership, and property tax returns, supporting schedules, and workpapers.
- Reviews and organizes financial and tax-related information to support compliance and reporting requirements.
- Supports tax compliance activities by researching, tracking, and monitoring filing deadlines and regulatory requirements.
- Completes tax-related analyses, reconciliations, and special projects as assigned by Tax team members.
- Tracks invoices, prepares payment requests, and maintains supporting documentation related to tax obligations and filings.
- Reviews and tracks annual state registration, renewal, and compliance requirements, including Minnesota annual renewals.
- Assists with maintaining accurate tax records, databases, and filing systems.
- Conducts data analysis and reporting activities utilizing financial, tax, and operational information.
- Participates in departmental meetings and collaborates with team members on process improvements and ongoing initiatives.
- Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by Supervisors as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications
- Must be in the process of earning a bachelor's degree in Accounting, Taxation, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field; or have earned a bachelor's degree in one of these fields within the previous 12 months.
- Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Possesses strong analytical, mathematical, and problem-solving abilities.
- Exhibits exceptional attention to detail and accuracy when working with financial and tax information.
- Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Possesses proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Ability to accept delegated assignments and work with moderate independence.
- Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization in a collaborative team environment.
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial and tax-related data and present information clearly and accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Exposure to or familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or other data analytics tools is preferred.
- Interest in tax accounting, tax compliance, real estate taxation, or corporate finance is preferred.
