Position Summary

The Finance Treasury Intern supports the Finance and Treasury team by assisting with financial reporting, analysis, valuation activities, cash flow modeling, and other finance-related projects. This position provides exposure to a broad range of financial planning, treasury, and asset management functions while developing practical experience in financial analysis, reporting, and real estate finance. The Finance Treasury Intern collaborates with team members across departments and contributes to projects that support business operations, investment decisions, and portfolio performance.

Responsibilities

  • Prepares financial information and supporting materials for monthly and quarterly financial review meetings, surplus cash distributions, refinances, limited partner buyouts, and other asset-related transactions.
  • Assists with the preparation, maintenance, and updating of financial models, cash flow analyses, and valuation tools used to support investment and financing decisions.
  • Updates and maintains unit, property, and portfolio tracking workbooks to ensure accurate reporting and analysis.
  • Reviews financial statements, operating data, and property performance metrics to support ongoing reporting and analytical initiatives.
  • Assists with Property Database (PDB) audits and data validation efforts to maintain the accuracy and integrity of financial information.
  • Prepares, formats, and analyzes developer cash flow summaries and other financial reporting materials.
  • Participates in departmental meetings and project discussions while providing administrative and analytical support as needed.
  • Collaborates with Finance, Treasury, Asset Management, and other Corporate Services teams on special projects and business initiatives.
  • Conducts data analysis and research to support financial planning, forecasting, underwriting, and portfolio management activities.
  • Additional functions and requirements may be assigned by Supervisors as deemed appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Must be in the process of earning a bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field; or have earned a bachelor's degree in one of these fields within the previous 12 months.
  • Demonstrates strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Possesses strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Exhibits strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Ability to accept delegated assignments and work with moderate independence.
  • Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels of the organization in a collaborative team environment.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and present findings clearly and accurately.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Exposure to or familiarity with Power BI, Power Query, SQL, or similar data analytics tools is preferred.
  • Interest in real estate finance, treasury operations, financial planning and analysis, or investment analysis is preferred.
