About the Role

Goodwill Industries of Central Florida is seeking a Finance Operations Support Specialist to join our Finance team and serve as a critical partner to the Controller and cross-functional departments across the organization. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys combining their accounting knowledge, systems expertise, process coordination, and customer-service mindset to support a fast-paced and mission-driven environment.

In this position, you'll be at the center of finance operations—managing critical systems, supporting compliance initiatives, maintaining vendor and purchasing records, assisting with audits and budgeting activities, and helping employees navigate finance-related processes. What You'll Do

Drive Day-to-Day Finance Operations

  • Serve as a key point of contact for Finance-related requests received through shared inboxes, helpdesk channels, and internal workflows.
  • Research and coordinate resolutions for payment inquiries, vendor issues, disputes, and operational questions.
  • Maintain department procedures, process documentation, and training materials to ensure consistency and efficiency.
  • Support employee onboarding and provide guidance on Finance systems and processes.

Manage Vendor & Purchasing Administration

  • Create and maintain vendor records while ensuring compliance with established controls and approval processes.
  • Process and monitor purchase requisitions, following up to ensure timely completion and accuracy.
  • Review vendor data for discrepancies, duplicates, and outdated information.
  • Help safeguard financial integrity through proper documentation and separation-of-duties controls.

Administer Finance Systems & User Access

  • Manage user access and administrative functions across multiple Finance systems and platforms.
  • Support contract, project, and agreement administration within Finance applications.
  • Troubleshoot user issues, provide training, and coordinate resolutions with technical support teams and system vendors.
  • Maintain system records, permissions, and periodic access reviews.

Support Vehicle, Asset & Lease Administration

  • Administer company vehicle accounts and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Track registrations, renewals, titles, and related compliance requirements.
  • Maintain asset records and reconcile supporting documentation.
  • Coordinate with internal departments and external partners to resolve account or record discrepancies.

Assist with Reporting, Compliance & Audits

  • Support annual audit activities by gathering, organizing, and validating required documentation.
  • Assist with preparation of the annual Budget Book and other financial reporting initiatives.
  • Coordinate tax exemption renewals, business tax requirements, unclaimed property filings, and related compliance activities.
  • Monitor deadlines, maintain compliance calendars, and ensure critical submissions remain on track.
  • Review information for completeness and accuracy prior to submission.

Required Qualifications

  • Associate degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting accounting, finance operations, business administration, or related functions.
  • Strong understanding of accounting fundamentals, including:
    • Debits and credits
    • Expense management
    • Balance sheets
    • Profit & Loss statements
    • Cash flow reporting
    • Month-end processes
  • Experience working in high-volume environments with competing priorities and overlapping deadlines.
  • Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills, including:
    • VLOOKUPs
    • Data sorting and filtering
    • Spreadsheet maintenance and analysis
  • Strong Microsoft Word proficiency and experience creating professional business correspondence and documentation.
  • Experience working with Adobe Acrobat, including editing, updating, and managing PDF documents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred Experience

  • Exposure to financial audits and audit support activities.
  • Experience administering business or accounting systems and managing user access.
  • Experience training employees on systems, processes, or procedures.
  • Experience supporting multi-site organizations, retail operations, or similarly complex environments.
