About the Role
Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer, the Finance Officer is responsible for assisting with all aspects of the Agency's financial operations, including grant administration, payroll, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and financial reporting functions. The Finance Officer will perform accounting duties such as recording receipts and disbursements for financial transactions on the general ledger, generating financial reports on a timely basis and maintaining sound accounting records.
Responsibilities
- Prepare Agency financial reports in a timely manner for funding agencies
- Prepare and submit payroll tax reports
- Review payroll preparation and processing
- Assist in preparing the Agency's annual budget in coordination with CFO and CEO
- Assist with the Agency's annual audit to ensure the audit is completed timely
- Assist directors and managers with preparation of grant applications and funding requests
- Participate in fiscal management training and related topics in order to maintain high standards in fiscal operations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred in Accounting or Finance
- At least 2–4 years of accounting experience
- Analytical thinking and ability to analyze data
- Knowledge of non-profit accounting and/or governmental accounting preferred
- Grant administration accounting experience preferred but not required
- Ability to prepare and analyze financial reports and communicate effectively with the public, funding sources, and other departments within the agency
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- Valid driver's license required
- Must be able to pass criminal background checks
