Finance Analyst (Hybrid, Omaha, NE)
About the role
Mutual of Omaha is seeking a full-time Finance Analyst to join our Cash Receipts team. In this role, you'll support critical financial operations by ensuring the timely and accurate processing of cash transactions, reconciliations, and banking activities while partnering across the organization to drive operational efficiency, financial accuracy, and continuous improvement. This position supports cash management, cash receipt processing, account reconciliations, and banking operations.
Responsibilities
- Perform account reconciliations and financial analysis for balance sheet, banking, and clearing accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Prepare and record journal entries supporting cash management, cash receipt processing, and accounting activities.
- Research and resolve reconciling items, banking exceptions, and transactional discrepancies while identifying opportunities to strengthen controls and improve processes.
- Support cash receipt processing, cash allocation activities, daily balancing functions, and other banking operations.
- Assist with month-end close activities, audit requests, financial reporting requirements, and compliance with internal control standards.
- Utilize Excel, Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot, SQL, Python, and Microsoft Copilot to analyze data, identify trends, automate reporting, improve operational efficiency, and support data-driven business decisions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- 1-2 years of experience in account reconciliations or related accounting functions.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet established deadlines.
- Working knowledge of accounting and finance principles with a strong commitment to accuracy, quality, and attention to detail.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with internal and external business partners.
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment while maintaining confidentiality and exercising sound judgment when handling sensitive information.

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience performing account reconciliations, cash management, banking operations, or cash receipt processing.
- Experience with accounting systems, financial reporting tools, or SAP.
- Knowledge of GAAP, statutory accounting principles, or insurance industry operations.
- Advanced proficiency with Excel, Power BI, Power Query, Power Pivot, SQL, Python, and Microsoft Copilot.
- Experience leveraging data and technology to improve reporting, automate processes, enhance controls, and generate business insights.
Schedule
Hybrid Work Arrangement: This position requires in-office attendance one day per week beginning in mid-September 2026, increasing to three days per week when our new office location opens in April 2027. Local Finance Operations Division employees are expected to be in the office more than 50% of the time beginning Q2 2027. Local Finance Operations Division employees are expected to be in the office for key business activities and critical in-person events, as determined by their manager.
Pay
Estimated Salary: $68,000 - $78,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
