Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of financial and/or accounting activities, including maintenance, control, analysis, and development of complex financial/accounting records, reports, and systems.
• Provide or assist in business advice and services to management and staff to ensure compliance with federal laws, regulations, policies, and sound business practices.
• Perform key accounting tasks in one or more of the following areas: General Accounting, Accounts Receivable, Property Management, Treasury Services, Accounts Payable, Payroll & Tax, and Travel Services.
• Conduct monthly analyses to provide management information on the performance of costs and financial data.
• Perform and provide technical support for accounting entries, account reconciliations, and general accounting questions.
• Prepare, review, and validate financial data.
• Document procedures to ensure compliance with government accounting requirements.
• Provide support to internal and external auditors, as directed by management.
• Assist in the adherence to and communication of business policies and procedures, including training and interpretation for supported organizations.
• Develop solutions to standard problems requiring ingenuity and creativity; identify opportunities and risks and make recommendations affecting organizational objectives.
• Interact with internal and external personnel; mentor and motivate junior team members.
• Work with a moderate level of guidance and direction; seek out collaborative opportunities.

This position requires onsite work a minimum of two days per week. When working remotely, employees are expected to maintain the same standards as onsite staff and be ready to go onsite on short notice to meet business needs.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• BS/BA and 2+ years of relevant experience OR MS/MA or higher.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of Battelle's financial systems and processes.
• Proficient use of standard office equipment and MS Office Suite (specifically Excel and Access).
• Knowledge of FAR, DEAR, Cost Accounting Standards, and PNNL Charging Guidelines.

Pay

Minimum Salary: USD $32.60/Hr. Maximum Salary: USD $48.37/Hr.

Starting pay is calculated from the minimum of the pay range and actual placement is determined based on job-related skills, qualifications, and experience. This approach applies to all positions except those governed by collective bargaining agreements or certain limited-term positions with specific pay rules.
