About the role

The Business Services Directorate (BSD) provides crucial financial, procurement and sales, and project management services to Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL), as required under our management and operations contract for operating the Lab on behalf of the Department of Energy (DOE).

Responsibilities

  • Develops solutions to complex problems which require the regular use of ingenuity and creativity.
  • Identifies opportunities and risks and makes recommendations affecting organizational objectives.
  • Performs a variety of financial and/or accounting activities, which may include the maintenance, control, analysis, and development of complex financial/accounting records, reports and systems and their ongoing support.
  • Provides or assists in business advice and services to management and staff to ensure compliance with applicable federal laws, regulations, policies, and sound business practices.
  • Adheres to and communicates business policies and procedures, including training and interpretation for the various organizations supported.
  • Conducts monthly analyses to provide management information on the performance of the cost and financial processing requirements.
  • Supports internal and external auditors, as directed by management.
  • Documents procedures to ensure compliance with government accounting requirements.
  • Develops solutions and may lead process improvement initiatives with limited scope for in Cost Accounting and General Accounting.

Qualifications

  • BS/BA and 2+ years of relevant finance and accounting experience -OR- MS/MA or higher
  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, MIS or a related business field.
  • Skilled in the use of basic financial and accounting systems and software.
  • High degree of knowledge of Microsoft Access and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of financial systems, general accounting practices and strong analytical and communication skills are required.
  • Knowledge of FAR, DEAR, Cost Accounting Standards and PNNL Charging Guidelines.

Benefits

Starting pay is calculated from the minimum of the pay range and actual placement in the range is determined based on an individual’s relevant job-related skills, qualifications, and experience. This approach is applicable to all positions, with the exception of positions governed by collective bargaining agreements and certain limited-term positions which have specific pay rules.

PNNL lists the full pay range for the position in the job posting. Minimum Salary USD $32.60/Hr. Maximum Salary USD $48.37/Hr.
