About the role
The Field Service Technician III is responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining heavy equipment and machinery at customer job sites. This role ensures optimal performance of equipment through expert troubleshooting and timely service, while delivering exceptional customer support.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site diagnostics and repairs on heavy equipment.
- Conduct preventive maintenance and inspections.
- Document all service work accurately in company systems.
- Communicate repair status and recommendations to customers.
- Maintain company service vehicle and tools in good condition.
- Adhere to all safety and environmental regulations.
- No direct supervisory duties; may mentor junior technicians as needed.
Qualifications
- Caterpillar equipment experience.
- Familiarity with hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems.
- CDL license.
Education
- A high school diploma or equivalent required.
- A technical certification or associate degree in Diesel Technology or related field preferred.

- Strong knowledge of Caterpillar or similar machinery.
- Ability to work independently in remote locations.
Physical and Mental Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs and work in various outdoor conditions.
- Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
- Mental focus for troubleshooting complex systems under time constraints.
Work Environment
- Primarily field-based with exposure to varying weather conditions.
- Frequent travel to customer sites within assigned territory.
- Standard business hours with occasional overtime and on-call duties.
