About the role
Remote field technician for L3Harris (Field Services Division) supporting multiple programs/systems for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The role involves performing installation and maintenance on a variety of Networking and Telecommunication equipment at customer locations within the New Orleans metropolitan area. Daily commuting to and from customer remote locations (indoor & outdoor) is required. Technicians must work independently with minimal supervision and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
Responsibilities
- Provide technical support for FAA programs/systems (FTI, MS, ADS-B, DCNS, WMSS, and others).
- Install, repair, configure, test, and perform preventative maintenance on equipment at customer remote locations.
- Work remotely in a scheduled and on-call capacity at various customer locations within the assigned area; occasional travel to remote sites outside the assigned area may be required.
- Read, understand, and follow equipment drawings and task orders.
- Document work performed at customer locations (notes, logs, etc.).
- Collaborate with the NOCC, SAC, and Helpdesk to resolve field issues over the phone.
- Maintain tools, test equipment, parts/electronics, truck stock inventory, and personal or company vehicle.
- Prepare proactively for assigned tasks prior to dispatch.
- Work outside regularly scheduled hours (on-call) to meet customer needs.
- Lift items up to 32 lbs. and use ladders/step stools to reach heights of approximately 10 feet.
- Adhere to all L3Harris and program-specific policies/procedures.
- Obtain and maintain a DOT Public Trust Security Clearance and a DOD Secret Clearance.
- Maintain a valid Driver’s License and/or local U.S. State REAL ID equivalent with a satisfactory driving record.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 6 years of prior relevant experience, or 2 years post-Secondary/Associate Degree with a minimum of 2 years of prior related experience.
- Experience with fiber, Carrier Ethernet, Multiplexes, DACS, Routers/Switches, Network topology, Frame Relay, Fractional T-1, SONET Network Technology, ATM, Private Line, Voice, and Data applications.
- Experience with cable connectors and replacements including RJ-11, RJ-45, DB-25, V.35, RS-449, BNC, and 50-pin Amphenol.
- Experience with power testing (AC and DC).
- Familiarity with configuration and operation of 24VDC & 48VDC power supplies (rectifiers & fuse panels), backup power supplies (UPS’s), and site grounding (single & multiple point).
- Experience logging into network equipment and circuit testing using various test equipment/laptops.
- Knowledge of Bell Core Standards (Analog 4-wire & 2-wire testing, Digital DSX1/T1 testing, Digital DSX3/T3 testing, Digital Serial RS232/RS530 testing, Carrier Ethernet RFC testing, IP interface testing).
- Experience using test equipment: Viavi 5800, JDSU HST3000, DataScout, Ameritech AM5XT, Digital Oscilloscope, Halcyon 704A, Anritsu Spectrum Analyzer, and other T1/DS3 Testsets.
- Experience performing Preventive and Corrective Maintenance on backup generators.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
