Position Requirements

• Class A CDL preferred
• At least two years of backhoe experience
• Knowledge of use, function and maintenance of manual tools and equipment applicable to the position
• Knowledge of construction and maintenance of transmission and distribution pipeline systems
• Working Knowledge and Training Relative To Work in Excavations and Confined Spaces
• Basic customer service activities
• Company and governmental operating/safety procedures
• Fuse plastic pipe
• Characteristics of natural gas
• Understanding of how to read and interpret maps, atlas pages, blueprints, and job orders
• Read and write fluently in English
• Applicable driver's license
• Qualified Plastic Fusion Technician certification
• Applicable Operator Qualifications
• Lift or move objects weighing up to 20 pounds 10-15 times a day; up to 40 pounds 7-10 times a day; over 50 pounds 5-6 times a day
• Climb into and out of excavations
• Travel over uneven terrain including mud, gravel, sand, rocks, ice, snow
• React immediately to emergency situations to prevent injury to self and others
• Smell odorant in natural gas
• Detect and react to warning signals at work sites
• Operate tools and equipment
• Communicate and exchange information and instructions including use of company two way radio and company cell phones
• Peripheral vision and accurate depth perception
• Visual abilities to perform job responsibilities

Qualifications

• Applicable driver's license
• Qualified Plastic Fusion Technician certification
• Applicable Operator Qualifications
