About the Role
Management-level responsibility for construction efforts on high-profile projects. Acts, in conjunction with the Project Manager and Project Executive, as a point of contact with all construction vendors and contractors. Provides leadership and technical expertise, manages external relationships, and plays a major role in schedule, quality, and safety.
Work location: Anaheim, CA
Schedule: Full Time, Monday – Saturday
Responsibilities
- Manage construction efforts on the project through installation.
- Perform constructibility analysis and value engineering recommendations.
- Manage pre-construction services scope and provide pre-construction input (varies by project).
- Verify compliance with national and local codes and standards.
- Monitor construction, schedule, and quality control.
- Manage the safety program in close coordination with the Safety Department.
- Monitor construction management contract compliance (if applicable).
- Make recommendations to the project manager on bid packages; develop, receive, and award bids in conjunction with contract administration.
- Monitor submittal and shop drawing process.
- Review and approve contract applications for payment.
- Lead the development of the project delivery system.
- Maintain clarification, submittal, and deficiency logs.
- Coordinate with governmental and utility agencies.
- Coordinate with other client departments and personnel.
- Responsible for personnel management of direct reports, including performance reviews, counseling, and talent development.
- Prepare site logistics plan.
- Review and approve contractor’s project schedule.
- Ensure proper interface with key project partners (Engineering Services, Facilities Management, Operations).
- Facilitate production of mock-ups for approval (Design Architect, Operator & Client Executives).
- Interface with client senior executives.
- Adhere to all personnel policies and company handbooks.
Requirements
- 7+ years of job-related experience.
- 5-7 years of project management/coordination.
- Proven experience in construction management.
- Proven experience managing the construction development process and documentation (shop drawings, document control, punch lists, etc.).
- Ability to lead project teams.
- Experience with and proven understanding of scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and quality control.
- Knowledge of national and local codes and standards.
- Experience with MEP installations.
- Ability to manage through conflict and complexity, problem-solving issues to resolution.
- Experience with hiring outside vendors and professional bid packages.
- Experience in the contract administration process (contracts, professional fees, etc.).
- Ability to understand the needs of the client and manage relationships between owner/operator.
- Computer literacy (Word, Bluebeam, Excel, Email, etc.).
- Ability to communicate comfortably, both verbally in presentations and conversations, and in written correspondence.
- Ability to give direction, adapt to change, establish relationships, and work in a team environment.
- Supervisory experience.
- OSHA 30 Certification.
- Contractor’s license.
Leadership Skills
- Ability to successfully manage personnel, providing leadership, mentoring, coaching, and guidance.
- Ability to successfully lead project teams, including consultants, staff extensions, and contractors.
- Ability to resolve conflict.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk 10+ miles per day over uneven surfaces.
- Ability to climb ladders, stairs, and scaffolding.
- Ability to carry material weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to climb over and under obstacles.
- Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
