Field Services Technician - Tier II

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform independent installations and repairs for residential customers.
  • Install and configure customer equipment, including routers, modems, and Wi-Fi gateways.
  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience by being professional, friendly, and knowledgeable during all service visits.
  • Diagnose and resolve connectivity and service issues with accuracy and efficiency.
  • Install, terminate, and test network cabling, adhering to all relevant codes and standards.
  • Complete accurate and timely documentation of service activities.
  • Safely operate company vehicles and equipment, including ladders and bucket trucks, in accordance with all safety protocols and DOT/OSHA regulations.

Experience/Knowledge Required

  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in telecommunications, installation, construction, and utility work.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license with no restrictions.
  • Ability to participate in an on-call rotation, which includes nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Comfortable and able to work in both underground and aerial environments (e.g., climbing ladders up to 32ft and operating a bucket truck).
  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions.
  • Able to lift up to 70 lbs.
  • Able to enter and safely operate a bucket truck with a weight limit of 300 lbs.
  • Able to work on Saturdays and/or Sundays.
  • Willingness to obtain a class E license if offered.

Preferences

  • Demonstrated experience with CAT3 and CAT5 cabling, including installation, termination, and testing.
  • Working knowledge of LAN/WAN technologies and basic networking principles.
  • Ability to test and install customer ADSL/xDSL circuit orders with the appropriate local exchange carrier (LEC).
  • Knowledge of cable pulling, terminations, closet buildouts, and compliance with building and fire codes.
