About the role
Bloom Energy is pioneering clean, reliable, and affordable energy solutions with solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and solid oxide electrolyzer (SOEC) technologies. As a Field Service Technician, you will join a world-class team delivering energy abundance to critical industries worldwide. This role is based onsite daily at our Field Office in Vineland, Cumberland County, NJ.
Responsibilities
- Provide fuel cell service during shift at the primary site.
- Operate a service vehicle safely and manage daily workflows autonomously from scheduled tasks.
- Perform on-site preventative maintenance, repair, test, and diagnostic tasks following company procedures.
- Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine/implement proper solutions.
- Collaborate with the technical team and share information across the organization.
- Comprehend and follow customer access requirements.
- Maintain service vehicle and spare part inventory.
- Build and maintain positive relationships with customers.
- Produce timely and detailed service reports as required.
- Complete daily administrative duties such as closing service appointments and debriefing parts.
- Travel up to 40% to support additional projects as needed.
- Work a Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday schedule.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for possible on-site support once qualified.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
The following minimum levels of experience and/or education are required:
- High school diploma and 6 years’ experience in electrical, process controls, or electro-mechanical fields; or
- Technical diploma, Journeymen Certification, or Electrician Certification in a technical field, with 4 years of relevant industry experience (e.g., electrician, electronics technician, field service technician, test engineer); or
- 5 years or more of relevant experience in commercial electrical, combined with electrical-related military experience (e.g., Navy Nuclear Electronics/Electrical Technician, military-certified electrician or technician, Gas Turbine Electrician).
Skills
- Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
- Familiarity with safety standards, particularly OSHA and NFPA 70E.
- Experience as an electrician or electrical technician working with three-phase systems, uninterruptible power supplies, electrical generation and distribution systems, power electronics, automatic transfer switches, or microprocessor-based control platforms.
- Experience with electrical/electronic test and measurement equipment.
- Able to read and interpret electrical single-line diagrams and blueprints.
- Experience performing equipment maintenance in accordance with ANSI/NETA standards for Electrical Power.
- Mechanical system aptitude, including troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Ability to operate, maintain, and troubleshoot fluid systems (natural gas, water, air) and associated balance-of-plant equipment.
- Highly motivated and able to work autonomously.
- Sound judgment in resolving complex problems.
- Team player with a high level of integrity and professionalism.
- Effective written and verbal communication in English.
- Comfortable working from elevated heights up to 20 feet.
- Able to execute written and verbal procedures and sequenced work instructions.
- Ability to regularly handle equipment up to 50 lbs., occasionally lifting up to 70 lbs.
- Able to reach, squat, bend, and twist during the workday.
- Able to use a ladder or stepstool regularly.
- Able to support 24/7 on-call duty and shift work as needed.
- Able to work overtime regularly to achieve quarterly goals.
- Willing to travel up to 40%.
Nice to have: Prior experience with electromechanical components.
Pay
Salary range: $28.02 - $40.32 per hour.
