About the role

This role supports field Service operations within Sungrow USA related to commissioning, warranty, and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) of expanding installed sites.

Responsibilities

  • Install, operate, test, and maintain string and central solar inverters and ancillary equipment/ systems.
  • Perform troubleshooting and diagnosis under Sungrow’s maintenance and repair guidelines.
  • Support and perform pre-commissioning and commissioning of solar inverters and BESS systems within schedule and work plans.
  • Investigate solar plant issues such as DC array grid faults, inverter design issues, and utility grid transients.
  • Lead upgrade/rework projects (software and hardware) in the field and interact with customers to explain the project's technical scope and manage work schedule and commitments.
  • Work with customer SCADA engineers to set up systems communication and parameters involving Sungrow’s controllers and F&G systems as needed.
  • Provide feedback to the engineering and project team on possible mechanical and electrical design improvements.
  • Prepare and submit own Daily Activity Reports and Daily JSA Reports.
  • Work independently in the field and with Design Engineers to resolve high-level technical issues, support the investigation of the root cause for technology applications for complex projects.
  • Coordinate and work closely with other engineering, logistic, financial, and program management disciplines to maintain the solar plant operations.
  • Verify and comply with engineering documentation standards and test procedures.
  • Own creation and submission of all field paperwork and documentation for full compliance with site documentation and project requirements.
  • Serve as a safety second if needed.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in an Engineering or Computer Science Discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Renewable industry experience is desired.
  • Power Electronics experience is desired.
  • OSHA 10 certificate within 12 months of date of hire.
  • NFPA 70e certificate within 12 months of date of hire.

Qualifications

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Motivated self-starter with complex problem-solving abilities.
  • A 'completer-finisher' taking accountability for ideas from inception to delivery in an environment that requires robust metrics to confirm the success.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of partners, senior managers, and subject matter experts.
  • 3 plus years of overall experience in a technical field.
  • 2 years of experience in solar inverters or BESS.
  • Must possess the ability to work with test equipment and hand tools as required.
  • Must be able to closely follow instructions and pre-established procedures/SOP to perform the duties of the job.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook).
  • OSHA, NFPA70A, Electrical Safety experience and/or certification with MV transformers a plus.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
  • Travel 80%.
