About the role
The Field Service Technician I is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service, performing preventive maintenance, routine repairs, and calibrating and verifying Hach devices at customer sites. The customer base includes municipal (drinking and wastewater treatment facilities) and industrial (power plants, food and beverage plants) settings. This role is based in the Little Rock, AR area and supports customers throughout the territory, with daily travel to customer sites. Company-paid travel, accommodations, and meals are provided for overnight stays.
- Perform preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration/verification of instrumentation using established company standard work.
- Promote a positive customer experience and serve as on-site customer contact for technical and service-related problems.
- Work in a wide variety of municipal and industrial settings, including drinking water and wastewater treatment facilities, refineries, chemical manufacturing plants, and food and beverage processing facilities.
- Service instruments in NEC hazardous locations (Class I Division 2) as required.
- Submit prompt, accurate service reports that affect billing, inventory, instrument history, and instrument failure.
- Follow safe work practices according to company policy.
- Execute administrative activities in support of service visits.
Requirements
- HS Diploma required; Associates/technical degree preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
- Mechanical aptitude is a must—experience with preventative maintenance and technical diagnostics/repair.
- 2+ years of field service experience and/or customer-facing roles preferred.
- Valid driver’s license, clean driving record, and ability to rent vehicles or book hotel rooms for business travel.
Travel Requirements
- Daily travel to customer sites, typically within a 2-hour radius of the home office.
- 65-75% of weekly travel will include overnight stays.
- Occasional travel to other states within the region, with trips lasting up to one week at a time.
Training
Comprehensive 10-week training period: 8 weeks in the field working side-by-side with a dedicated trainer and 2 weeks of classroom-based training in Loveland, CO.
Schedule
- 3 days off per week during training.
- After training: 4 shifts per week at 10-hour days, based on workload demand.
Pay
The compensation range for this role is $29.00 - $31.00 USD per hour, plus incentive pay.
