About the role

The Field Service Technician I is responsible for delivering high-quality customer service, performing preventive maintenance, routine repairs, and calibrating and verifying Hach devices at our customer sites. The customer base for this role is anticipated to be a combination of municipal (i.e., drinking and wastewater treatment facilities) and industrial (i.e., power plants and food and beverage plants). This role is based in Riverside, CA and is remote.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance, routine repair, and calibration/verification of instrumentation using established company standard work.
  • Promote a positive customer experience and serve as on-site customer contact for technical and service-related problems.
  • Work in a wide variety of municipal and industrial settings, including but not limited to drinking water & wastewater treatment facilities, refineries, chemical manufacturing plants, food & beverage processing facilities, etc. Some applications may involve instrument servicing in NEC hazardous locations (Class I Division 2).
  • Submit prompt, accurate service reports that affect billing, inventory, instrument history, and instrument failure.
  • Follow safe work practices according to company policy.
  • Execute administrative activities in support of service visits.
  • Daily travel to customer sites. Company-paid travel, accommodations, and meals are provided for overnight stays.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma required; Associates/technical degree preferred, or a combination of education and experience.
  • Mechanical aptitude is a must - experience with preventative maintenance and technical diagnostics/repair.
  • 2+ years of field service experience and/or customer-facing roles preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and the ability to rent a car and/or hotel rooms under applicable state law are required.

Travel Requirements

  • Daily travel to customer sites, typically within a 2-hour radius of the home office.
  • On average, 70% of weekly travel will include overnight stays.
  • Occasional travel to other states within the region is expected, with trips lasting up to one week at a time.

Training

  • Comprehensive 10-week training period: 8 weeks in the field working side by side with a dedicated trainer & 2 weeks classroom-based training in Loveland, CO.
  • After completion of training, schedule will consist of 4 shifts per week at 10-hour days based on workload demand.
  • 3 days off per week.

Pay

The compensation range for this role is $29.00 - $31.00 USD per hour. This job is also eligible for Incentive Pay.
