About the role
The Experitec Field Service Technician provides instrument services to maximize the value of our customers' process control systems. Responsibilities include instrument calibration, troubleshooting, specification, selection, and construction support. Typical work assignments involve performing on-site on-demand and contract field services to support our customer's installed base. Services include instrumentation, diagnostic, troubleshooting, calibration, and start-up and commissioning.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site on-demand and contract field services to support customer's installed base.
- Calibrate, troubleshoot, and specify instrumentation and instrument systems.
- Repair, modify, overhaul, diagnose, test, and maintain instrumentation and instrument systems, pumps, motors, motor control and electrical systems, PLCs, and DCS.
- Work with customers to recommend approaches on repair, replace, and upgrade.
- Provide informal and on-the-job customer training.
- Communicate customer needs and opportunities to the organization and develop tactics and strategies to support customer needs.
- Partner with the sales team to execute tactics and strategies to improve customer satisfaction and service growth through available service programs.
- Report performance measures towards goals.
- Complete all required internal and external reports, certificates, and relevant documents.
- Ensure adherence to safety and quality rules, regulations, and housekeeping standards.
- Drive safety and customer service training.
- Utilize personal vehicle for the majority of work travel and ability to rent a car when requested by supervisor for work travel.
- Lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Work in manufacturing and data center environments with shifting and extreme temperatures.
- Wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as appropriate for potential environmental hazards.
- Perform services to support customers through diagnostics, troubleshooting, calibrations, start-ups, and commissioning services.
- Participate in service expansion initiatives that impact the business.
Requirements
- Associate degree OR High School Diploma or equivalent with two or more years of relevant experience OR similar combination of education and/or experience.
- Two or more years of relevant work experience demonstrating a strong mechanical aptitude.
- Two or more years of experience with installing, troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, modifying, overhauling, diagnosing, testing and/or maintaining any or all of the following – instrumentation and instrument systems, pumps, motors, motor control and electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC), and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Strong ability to focus on customer’s needs and drive toward business goals.
- Basic experience utilizing Microsoft Office Excel & Word, Outlook email.
- Ability to work at customer sites most days Monday through Friday for 8 hours per day while occasionally working from home or Experitec offices.
- Ability to work overtime as needed with shifts extending beyond 8 hours to meet customer needs.
- Ability to work infrequent weekends and holidays with the flexibility to travel via plane with little notice to meet customer needs.
- Ability to independently travel to customer sites located within our service territory and the territories of our Impact Partners (including ability for regional and cross-country overnight travel 10-35% of the time) utilizing company per diem for meals/lodging.
- Ability to effectively communicate (written and verbal) with customers and co-workers.
- Ability to comply with site safety regulations and dedication to a safe work environment through ongoing training, housekeeping, and workplace safety.
- Ability to drive for the company with a valid driver’s license, pass driving record background check, and use company vehicle, personal vehicle and/or air travel.
- Ability to utilize personal vehicle for the majority of work travel AND ability to rent a car when requested by supervisor for work travel.
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work in manufacturing and data center environments with shifting and extreme temperatures.
- Ability to wear PPE as appropriate for potential environmental hazards.
- Ability to work in confined spaces and to perform elevated work.
Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree or Associate degree.
- Five or more years of relevant work experience.
- Five or more years of experience with installing, troubleshooting, calibrating, repairing, modifying, overhauling, diagnosing, testing and/or maintaining any or all of the following – instrumentation and instrument systems, pumps, motors, motor control and electrical systems, programmable logic controllers (PLC) and/or Distributed Control Systems (DCS).
- Demonstrated track record of exemplary customer focus.
