About the role
Hamilton Storage is seeking a hands-on System Technician to support our automation solutions in the life science and clinical research industries. This role involves troubleshooting, performing internal qualification tests, and assisting with preventative maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Hands-on troubleshooting at a system level
- Daily updates to keep the back-office team informed of progress
- Teach system cold and perform and pass the cold internal site acceptance test (SAT)
- Absorb and support the service team with preventative maintenance service calls
- Perform corrections and repairs
- Provide feedback to Hamilton Engineering on system improvement recommendations
- Utilize a variety of electronic and/or mechanical test equipment
- Complete and submit paperwork & expenses in a timely manner
- Communicate with customers to ensure satisfaction and implement necessary corrective actions
- Interface with cross-functional work teams such as R&D, Customer Service, Product Management, Manufacturing
- Follow company's ISO and Health & Safety procedures
- Work within planned timelines
- Assist customers and service people to overcome problems related to our systems in a timely manner
- Be positive and not discouraged by scrutiny and suggestions
- Comfortable working in cold environments (-20C and -80C components), confined spaces, and around live/wired systems
- Understand the system mechanically, electronically, sensors, motors, power distribution, software, configurations, backups, etc.
- Have excellent communication skills appropriate for a customer-facing role
- Be hardworking, enthusiastic, and attentive to detail
- Make decisions and act for customers based on knowledge and experience
- Work independently with limited direction and in a team
- Work under pressure without compromise
- Manage and meet schedule commitments
- Travel frequently and be flexible to business requirements
- Work additional hours and overtime as needed
- Exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects
- Sedentary work involving sitting most of the time
Requirements
- High School Diploma and equivalent professional experience-based knowledge or certification
- A degree or working towards a degree is an advantage
- Experience in automation or similar is essential
- Experience working with customers in the life science/clinical/pharmaceutical field is advantageous
Qualifications
- High level of self-motivation to assist customers and service people
- Comfortable working in cold environments (-20C and -80C components)
- Comfortable in confined spaces and aware of the environment
- Comfortable working around live and wired systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Windows environment, Active Directory, and SQL databases
- Understanding of IP addressing, Remote Desktop Protocols, and Driver Support
- Knowledge of the system, including mechanics, electronics, sensors, motors, power distribution, software, configurations, backups, etc.
- Excellent communication skills appropriate for a customer-facing role
- Hardworking and enthusiastic with exceptional attention to detail
- Able to make decisions and act for customers based on knowledge and experience
- Able to work independently with limited direction and in a team
- Capable of working under pressure without compromise

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $35.00 to $45.00 per hour. The final salary offer will be determined based on a variety of factors, including the candidate’s relevant experience, specialized skills, and professional qualifications.
Schedule
Frequent travel and flexibility to work overtime as needed.
