Position Overview

Siemens Mobility is seeking to fill a new Field Service Technician position in Chicago, IL to assist in the coordination and implementation of all phases of the service and maintenance activities of our SIEMENS CHARGER locomotives. The position involves providing technical advice to the customer's maintenance workforce, delivering ongoing system operation training, identifying non-conformance issues, and assisting with troubleshooting and repairs.

Responsibilities

  • Establish a rapport with Customer management and maintenance facility personnel.
  • Provide high-quality technical advice to improve the equipment reliability of the Charger fleet.
  • Ensure responsiveness and support for troubleshooting and repairs assigned to service requests.
  • Deliver ongoing system operation training for the customers.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to maintenance practices.
  • Assist local customer staff in troubleshooting and repair works.
  • Accurately communicate between the customer, our Rail Support Center, and the field team when required.
  • Give feedback to the team regarding performance, quality, and efficiency issues.
  • Work with 3rd party vendors, such as Cummins, to ensure proper operation of vendor components installed on the locomotive.
  • Continuously progress customers' maintenance practices to support the Charger locomotive as intended by the manual.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in electrical technology or other technical subject areas or a minimum of 2+ years of electrical/mechanical experience working in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience troubleshooting Electrical (both AC and DC circuits), Mechanical, and Pneumatic systems.
  • Experience interpreting electrical schematics and drawings.
  • Excellently demonstrated English language technical communication skills.
  • Proven skills with all Microsoft Office (including Excel/Word/Access/PowerPoint) products.
  • Ability to travel 10%.

Qualifications

  • Experience in rolling stock (railroad) maintenance and commissioning or other rail-related experience.
  • Knowledge of Railroad Regulatory, FRA requirements, and guidelines.

Skills

  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Pay

$76,398.00 - $89,658.00

Schedule

This position will work a first or third shift (6am – 2pm or 10pm to 6am) with a weekend day included in the 5-day work week. Shift hours can change based on customer schedule and maintenance needs.
