Field Service Technician

About the role
To provide onsite calibration of test equipment for customers, with the opportunity to support the local Transcat laboratory when not traveling.
Responsibilities
- Calibrate measurement and test equipment (M&TE) to manufacturer specifications
- Determine out of tolerance conditions for customer M&TE and calibration standards
- Provide corrective action (i.e., adjustments, minor repairs) for out of tolerance conditions
- Update and maintain proper documentation of services
- Provide customer with information regarding other services and new equipment provided by Transcat
- Maintain calibration standards
- Provide feedback and updates regarding calibration practices and procedures
- Proficiency in submitting and updating required paperwork for travel and administrative purposes
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Calibration experience and/or equivalent training with commercial and/or biomedical measurement and test equipment (M&TE)
- Self-motivator requiring little or no supervision
- Customer service oriented
- Ability to interact with customers & coworkers in a professional manner
- Proficiency with MS Office and the internet; familiarity with basic database functionality
- 3+ years driving experience with a valid driver’s license and acceptable driver history
- Comfortable driving in all climates
- Travel is a combination of local day trips and occasional overnight travel, home 95% of weekends
Qualifications
- Associate degree from college or technical school; or 2-5 years of related field experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
Desired Skills
- Military PMEL training
- Strong attention to detail - able to follow written instructions
- Ability to plan and prioritize diversified workload and work independently with minimal supervision

Pay
Hourly rate ranges between $26.00-$28.00

- Required to talk and hear

- Required to stand for long periods of time (up to 8 hours per day)
- Ability to lift 50 pounds and maneuver a 1,000-pound cart from unloading area to customer designated service area
- Occasionally required to lift upwards of 75 pounds
