Field Service Technician

Responsibilities

  • Completing hands-on installations, upgrades, and disassembly of vehicle systems.
  • Performing system testing, integration, and troubleshooting as part of a project team.
  • Carrying out site surveys and attending site-specific meetings.
  • Installing and commissioning wired and wireless low-voltage network solutions.
  • Validating network functionality and documenting results.
  • Adhering to OSHA, FRA, and RLC safety and PPE standards.

Qualifications

  • Experience: 2+ years of field service experience in the mass transit industry (Entry to Mid-level candidates will be considered).
  • Education: Technical degree preferred; industry certifications are a plus.
  • Skills & Competencies: Technical experience in engineering or field service within the mass transit industry. Ability to read, comprehend, and apply technical documentation, specifications, and schematics. Competence with hand and power tools, including calibrated tools and multimeters. Proficiency in wire termination, cabling, conduit work, and working around AC and DC high-voltage systems. Problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively. Strong communication skills for completing reports and following both written and verbal instructions.
  • Physical Abilities: Lift up to 50 lbs. Work at heights up to 25 feet using ladders. Operate in confined spaces, electrical cabinets, and on vehicles up to 16 feet high. Willingness to travel nationally for extended periods (valid driver's license required).

Preferred Experience

  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting wiring diagrams, construction drawings, and schematics.
  • Experience with: Field installation and testing of CCTV, access control, and intrusion detection systems. Axis or other competitive IP camera technologies. Extreme Networks or similar wired and wireless network technologies.
