Field Service Technician
About the role
Represents the organization to customers by providing information, responding to inquiries, and troubleshooting product problems. The Level I Field Service Technician has a good understanding of day-to-day responsibilities and can apply prior experience to more complicated tasks while working under limited supervision. Employees generally follow established processes and procedures.
This is a 3-month contract-to-hire position located in Orlando, FL.
Responsibilities
- Diagnose basic mechanical, software, network, and system failures using established procedures.
- Service and repair designated equipment according to Canon standards and specifications.
- Develop working knowledge and aptitude across multiple product groups, including basic troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities.
- Meet customer needs by providing efficient, responsive, and accurate field, shop, and on-site maintenance.
- Properly maintain all technical information, Field Service Reports (FSRs), expense reports, and assigned Canon property.
- Maintain technical information and assigned Canon property and provide direction to less-senior technicians.
- Provide solutions for escalated technical and/or customer service-related issues across requested territories.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent experience required.
- 1–2 years of related experience required.
- Associate degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering from an accredited college or technical school, or equivalent experience.
- Basic understanding of internet/network environments.
- Successful completion of the 120-day introductory period.
- Successful completion of the PDIF New Hire Class.
- Some travel is required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and have an acceptable driving record.
- Must take all necessary steps to obtain any security and/or customer-required clearances needed to enter customer premises.
- Must be able to work in a 24x7 environment.
- Must be willing to perform shift work.
- Must participate in on-call rotations.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be engaged in mobile activity for more than 50% of the workday, including walking, standing, stooping, and kneeling.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have 1–2 years of field service, equipment repair, electronics, electrical, printer/copier, or related technical experience, along with basic mechanical, software, networking, and troubleshooting skills. A valid driver’s license, willingness to travel, and ability to work in a physically active environment are important for this role.
