Field Service Technician

About the role

We are seeking a Field Service Technician to handle on-site installation, troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of telecommunications equipment and services, including Internet, TV, and phone systems. This role involves direct customer interaction, providing exceptional service, identifying customer needs, and promoting TDS products and services.

Responsibilities

• Installing, testing, splicing, and repairing network and customer premise equipment
• Locating and repairing buried, aerial, and underground cables and fiber optics
• Performing cable fault tests and supporting troubleshooting efforts
• Maintaining accurate records of network elements and locate requests
• Educating customers on products and services, and seeking sales opportunities
• Ensuring safety standards and understanding industry practices

Requirements

• Valid driver's license and ability to operate vehicles with manual transmissions
• Experience with telecommunication products, fiber optics, and computer networking (A+ certification preferred)
• Proficiency with MS Office and troubleshooting systems
• Strong customer service, communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Ability to work independently, lift up to 50 pounds regularly, and work outdoors in various conditions
• Willingness to participate in on-call duties and complete safety training
• Residence within 60 minutes of the Wisconsin warehouse
