Field Service Technician
Job Description
Perform onsite field service activities at customer locations, including installation, startup, troubleshooting, repair, and training activities requiring approximately 85% travel.
Dismantles machines and equipment to gain access to problem area.
Inspects and measures parts to detect wear, misalignment, or other problems.
Removes and replaces worn or defective parts.
Aligns and adjusts components.
Starts up and debugs equipment to test operation following repair/installation.
Installs and troubleshoots electrical components.
Can make software changes on a limited basis.
Provides training to customers on proper maintenance and operation of equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Must have skills to successfully oversee others should those needs arise on a service call.
When appointed Lead Technician for a service call, the Technician will be responsible for the supervision of Shuttleworth personnel onsite and project coordination with the customer contact.
Technicians are also responsible for overseeing/directing work performed by the customer's personnel as well as subcontractors.
Qualifications
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or minimum 1-2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be willing and able to travel approximately 85% of the time and maintain a valid driver's license and passport, or be eligible to obtain a passport.
Must have the ability to interpret blueprints and electrical schematics and ladder logic.
Ability to troubleshoot electrical wiring and ladder logic programs.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

About the Role
Shuttleworth is seeking a field service technician who installs, repairs, rebuilds and maintains machines and equipment such as material handling systems and automated conveyor systems to ensure team and customer success.
This is a travel-intensive position requiring approximately 85% travel throughout the United States and, occasionally, internationally.
Travel may include weekday and weekend assignments, overnight stays, and extended periods at customer facilities during equipment installation, startup, troubleshooting, and service activities.
