Field Service Technician
Overview
Kelly® Engineering is seeking a Field Service Technician for a contract opportunity with a growing industrial filtration and dust collection equipment manufacturer in Troy, Michigan.
Responsibilities
- Travel to customer facilities to perform scheduled maintenance, inspections, troubleshooting, and service support
- Diagnose and repair basic mechanical and electrical issues involving motors, relays, sensors, valves, controls, and related equipment
- Perform preventative maintenance and verify proper system operation, airflow, and equipment functionality
- Read and interpret blueprints, mechanical drawings, and electrical schematics
- Complete service documentation, reporting, and customer communication following service visits
- Support equipment assembly, mechanical build, wiring, and installation work in the shop when not traveling
- Utilize hand tools, measurement devices, and basic electrical test equipment including multimeters
- Provide professional customer support and maintain strong customer relationships during onsite visits
- Cook up with internal service and engineering teams regarding spare parts, repairs, and service recommendations
- Aid with spare parts quotations, inventory coordination, and customer support activities
- Work independently with minimal supervision while managing travel schedules and field assignments
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- 2–5+ years of hands-on technical experience preferred in areas such as: Field service, Industrial maintenance, Mechanical or electrical assembly, Machine building, Industrial equipment support, Automation or manufacturing environments
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Basic electrical troubleshooting experience preferred
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings
- Comfortable using hand tools and performing equipment assembly/repair work
- Experience using multimeters, checking continuity, and troubleshooting basic electrical components preferred
- Valid driver’s license required
- Passport or ability to obtain one required for occasional international travel
- Forklift/lift experience or willingness to obtain certification preferred
- CAD exposure such as AutoCAD or Autodesk Inventor is a plus, but not required
