The Contractor Equipment Division (CED) of Graco manufactures sprayers used by contractors for various applications such as painting, texture application, roof coating, and road marking. The division is expanding to meet increasing demand and is poised to transition contractors to spray technology.
About the role
The Field Service Technician installs, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs paint tinting equipment and systems in the field. This role serves as the primary on-site technical representative, ensuring equipment reliability, customer satisfaction, and meeting service commitments.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site installation, startup, calibration, preventive maintenance, and repair of paint tinting equipment and systems.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and basic software issues.
- Follow established service procedures to ensure work is completed safely, accurately, and to the company’s quality standards.
- Serve as the primary representative for technical resolution at customer sites.
- Communicate clearly with customers regarding service findings, recommendations, and next steps.
- Ensure service delivery meets customer expectations and service level commitments.
- Plan and manage daily service calls within an assigned territory to meet response time and service expectations.
- Accurately complete service reports, work orders, time entries, and expense reports using the company’s systems.
- Manage tools, parts usage, travel, and expenses responsibly.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and customer site safety requirements.
- Provide phone and remote technical support when not performing on-site service.
- Identify recurring equipment or process issues and share insights with service leadership, engineering, and product teams.
- Serve as a technical expert for assigned products and applications by maintaining current knowledge, certifications, and hands-on experience.
Requirements
- Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent relevant field service experience.
- 2+ years of hands-on technical service, maintenance, or repair experience.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Customer-focused mindset with clear, professional communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively in a field-based role.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel regularly within assigned territory.
Accelerators
- Experience servicing industrial equipment or automated systems.
- Experience in manufacturing, industrial, or technical service environments.
- Familiarity with service management systems and mobile service tools.
- Advanced technical training or certifications relevant to relevant products or industries served.
