About the role

Field Service Technicians provide thorough service support for technical problems, monitoring, testing, and demonstrations that result in minimizing downtime, reducing costs, or promoting our product capabilities. This individual will display specialized expertise and skill when troubleshooting, repairing, and installing parts to maintain equipment. The work must be executed with a sense of urgency while upholding Epiroc’s high quality standards.

The work environment includes regular exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and outdoor weather conditions, with occasional exposure to high or precarious places, toxic or caustic chemicals, and electrical shock risks. Employees may need to sit for extended periods, use hands to feel and reach, and communicate effectively. Company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.

This position is considered safety-sensitive and is onsite with a day shift schedule. Travel is required.

Responsibilities

  • Level 1:
    • Review and update personal tool inventory quarterly to maintain compliance with calibration and replacement protocols.
    • Complete daily work assignments as requested by the customer or supervisor.
    • Use basic analytical skills to troubleshoot, identify problems, and repair mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and pneumatic systems either by phone or on-site.
    • Understand and apply the company’s warranty policy, including processing warranty claim reports in the field.
    • Adhere to company safety and environmental requirements, including proper use of PPE and promoting safety procedures.
    • Work sustainably, considering environmental impact.
    • Maintain courteous and professional communication with customers and internal staff.
  • Level 2 (in addition to Level 1):
    • Provide warranty support, including evaluating and validating claims, discussing issues with the Product Company, and submitting service reports.
    • Communicate service activities to customers and the Service Manager through daily reports, email, or phone.
    • Support varied activities with simultaneous projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Level 3 (in addition to Levels 1 and 2):
    • Use specialized expertise to develop customized solutions for customer-specific issues.
    • Rebuild complete components to OEM specifications in the service shop.
    • Perform essential job functions across various equipment types supporting all business line areas.
    • Serve as a subject matter expert for other service technicians, supporting their training and development.

Requirements

  • Level 1:
    • Basic computer skills and familiarity with Epiroc equipment.
    • Previous work experience demonstrating strong mechanical aptitude, good work ethic, and ability to read basic hydraulic and 24-volt schematics.
    • Possess own hand tools and expand inventory by purchasing additional tools as required by Epiroc’s tool list.
    • Complete TL1 and TL2 training and Safe Start Modules 1-5 within the first year of employment.
    • Maintain required U.S. Department of Labor, Mine Safety & Health Administration (MSHA) Training Certificates or complete training as required.
    • Hold a valid driver’s license with a good driving record. If required to operate a commercial vehicle over 26,001 pounds, must obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) for DOT purposes.
    • Must be at least 18 years old to drive commercial motor vehicles intrastate and 21 years old for interstate driving.
  • Level 2 (in addition to Level 1):
    • Certificate of Completion from a Technical or Trade School or 2-5 years of relevant experience.
    • Complete TL1 and TL2 training within 3-6 months of hire.
  • Level 3 (in addition to Levels 1 and 2):
    • Certificate of Completion from a Technical or Trade School or 5+ years of relevant experience.
    • Expertise in Rig Control Systems (RCS).
    • Complete TL1 and TL2 training within 1 month of hire.

Level will be determined based on the candidate’s relevant work experience, knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the essential functions of the job.
