Field Service Technician
About the role
Serve as the liaison between Butterball and contracted turkey growers to ensure compliance with regulations, contractual agreements, and Butterball standards. Assist growers in achieving optimal farm performance and implement necessary pest and disease management strategies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with growers to encourage optimal farm performance.
- Maintain regular availability for and contact with growers to address concerns and provide guidance.
- Monitor and maintain the health and performance of contract turkeys, including feed delivery and record keeping.
- Implement sanitation and disease prevention programs, provide guidance on medication administration, perform necropsies, and transport turkeys to diagnostic laboratories.
- Interpret observations, identify opportunities for improvement, and advise management on potential solutions and areas for policy or procedural changes.
- Provide coaching and training on best management practices and the importance of maintaining high standards.
- Set clear expectations and influence positive behaviors such as completing proper repairs and investments in potential solutions.
- Resolve conflicts and escalate severe issues as necessary.
- Implement initiatives aimed at improving overall quality and efficiency in contracted facilities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis on relevant field or equivalent 3+ years of experience.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to apply basic algebra and geometry concepts and calculate figures such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, circumference, volume, etc.
- Attention to detail, with a commitment to accuracy and quality in all aspects of work.
- Understanding of agricultural quality standards, food safety regulations, and best practices.
- Strong presentation, coaching, and training skills with the ability to respond to questions from any audience.
- Firm problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Qualifications
- Physical demands include standing, sitting, talking, hearing, reaching, stooping, kneeling, using hands and fingers to operate computers, telephones, keyboards, and occasionally lifting up to 50 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
- The ability to operate a motor vehicle is required.
- Work will be performed in a variety of conditions including climate-controlled office environments and in a farm environment including working outdoors in seasonal conditions with live animals and at times in dusty environments.
- Personal protective equipment must be worn and used in the farm environment.
- Showering in and out of farm locations may be required.
- Occasional travel may be required.
