About the role
In this position, the Field Service Technician is available for 24/7 on-call field service labor, troubleshooting, and service training at customer locations for mechanical, electrical, and electronic components such as decanters, high-speed separators, or heat exchangers to ensure reliable operation, optimum performance, and efficiency. Must be able to manage travel costs and operating expenses associated with field service visits. You will play a pivotal role in performing preventive maintenance, emergency, and warranty repairs. Currently, this is a remote opportunity located in the Northeast of the United States.
Responsibilities
- Execute basic maintenance and minor repairs on selected products at customer sites.
- Investigate and resolve basic technical problems on selected products with basic knowledge at customer sites.
- Prepare assigned service jobs according to the FSE Handbook.
- Follow up on actions and promises made to customers.
- Write service reports on-site and obtain the customer's signature.
- Update service execution IT systems with relevant information.
- Report unsafe practices and other safety incidents according to local reporting procedures.
- Capture Installed Base on-site and communicate sales leads to the sales organization.
- Provide proactive recommendations to customers related to the purchase of additional spare parts.
- Execute services in our Service Centers as required.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree with a strong mechanical background.
- Over 5 years of experience in similar roles, with desirable expertise in transmission systems.
- Competent mechanical skills and aptitude.
- Ability to communicate operational and safety parameters for Alfa Laval equipment to the customer.
- Customer service and sales orientation.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Strong verbal and written skills.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems.
- Team player with the ability to work independently.
- Basic PC utilization skills in Word and Excel.
- Ability to learn and use systems required for the administration of service and expense reports.
- Perform jobs in line with OSHA requirements.

Pay
The base salary for this role is typically $35 to $39 USD hourly.
