Field Service Technician
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair electromechanical equipment and assemblies.
- Perform board-level circuit analysis and component-level repairs.
- Use electronic test equipment to identify faults and verify repairs.
- Complete functional testing to ensure equipment meets performance requirements.
- Document repair activities and maintain accurate service records.
- Work closely with internal service and engineering teams to resolve technical issues.
Required Qualifications
- 1–3 years of experience in field service, electronics repair, electromechanical maintenance, or a related technical field, or completion of a technical degree/certification program.
- Hands-on soldering experience.
- Experience troubleshooting and repairing printed circuit boards at the component level.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, and PCB drawings.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and customer-facing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with modular equipment installation and assembly.
- Familiarity with logic boards, embedded systems, firmware, or software-controlled equipment.
- Experience working with electromechanical systems in a manufacturing, transportation, industrial, or service environment.
Travel Requirements
- Approximately 25% travel, with potential for additional travel following training.
- Travel may begin shortly after starting the role.
- Assignments can range from single-day service calls to multi-day installation projects.
- Able to work flexible schedules, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Work may be performed in both indoor and outdoor environments.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wood Dale, IL.
Pay And Benefits
The pay range for this position is $23.50 - $25.00/hr.
