About the role
The Service Mechanic functions as part of the Service Team and is responsible for the care of various types of customer and company-owned equipment. In this role, you will troubleshoot and repair a variety of material handling equipment at various customer locations to bring each unit back to operational and safety standards. Effectively communicate with all involved parties, including Salespeople, Coordinators, Managers, and Customers, about possible downtime and job progress updates. Operate in a safe, efficient manner with minimal supervision to decrease equipment downtime while also maintaining safe working standards both on-site and during the operation of company vehicles.
Requirements
- Minimum 1 year of mechanical training/education, and/or experience in a related field
- Possessing or ability to obtain a complete line of tools, including specialized tools needed to complete the job at the customer’s site
- Minimum 21 years of age
- Clean driving record
- High school diploma or equivalent
Skills
- Above average communication skills
- Ability to read or be trained in reading schematics
- Ability to accomplish duties with accuracy and timeliness
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Physical Demands/Environmental Conditions
- Working in operating facilities and outdoors, traveling to customer locations
- Encountering varying weather conditions and temperatures
- Normal auto hazards apply
- Frequent working on equipment with potential hazards where appropriate safety equipment and practices are required
- Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Occasionally may be required to lift items weighing up to 100 pounds
- Must be able to stand, walk, twist, climb, and crawl
- Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, or squat
- Must be able to handle/finger on a daily basis
- Must be able to drive a van/truck to and from customer locations
- Must be able to wear safety glasses and safety shoes
- Must be medically capable of performing all aspects of the job with the maximum amount of safety
