POSITION TITLE
Field Service Technician, Mechanical and Controls
Skills
- Strong blend of problem-solving skills, technical knowledge and customer service abilities
- Understanding of PLC’s, VFDs, motion controls and other related components
- Conduct field service calls at customer sites to provide installation, commissioning, emergency repair, preventive maintenance, audits, retrofits, and training services
- Conduct site visit meetings with customers to include explanation of job scope and work completed and conduct training with customers personnel to ensure understanding of the sequence of operations, proper functionality, and general maintenance of equipment
- Achieve service delivery goals including response time, first time fix and customer satisfaction rates
- Communicate effectively with field service management and internal service support team to efficiently resolve customer issues
- Review customer file prior to departure for service call
- Troubleshoot equipment through listening to, observing mechanical/electrical devices in operation, reviewing machine data, etc., to locate causes of issues and concerns
- Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove and replace defective parts
- Repairs or replaces defective parts
- Provides internal and external customers with technical support in response to inquiries via phone and email
- Aids with customer escalations by providing the highest level of technical support both internally and externally as necessary
Qualifications
- AA Degree or equivalent certificate from a college or technical school
- Two to five years or more experience in the packaging and/or automation industry in field service, engineering or manufacturing function
- Bilingual (Spanish and English) is a benefit
- Technical writing experience a plus
- Valid driver's license
- Up-to-date US Passport required for travel outside the US
Physical Requirements
- Regularly required to stand for a minimum of 8 hours per day
- Frequent use of hands and arms to grasp, handle, and feel objects, control and manage tools
- Occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds
Work Environment
- Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts
- Moderate to loud noise levels
- Exposure to fumes or airborne particles
