Field Service Power Generation Technician
About the role
We are looking for an experienced Field Service Power Generation Technician / Mechanic to join our Distribution Business in Oak Creek, WI. In this role, you will make an impact by completing repair activities on generators or components, engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner, performing maintenance/repairs utilizing diagnostic tools, maintaining detailed records of service, adhering to Cummins Health, Safety & Environmental policies, and ongoing development/certifications on new and existing Cummins products.
Responsibilities
- Completing repair activities on generators or components
- Engaging with customers in a courteous and professional manner
- Maintain detailed records of service
- Adequate troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components
- Startup and repair of bypass transfer switch
- Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation
- Setup, troubleshoot and repair basic paralleling generator systems
- Understanding switchgear schematics
- Able to train Entry/Intermediate Technicians/Mechanics
Requirements
- Broad mechanical and electrical repair and maintenance abilities
- High Voltage / Low Voltage experience
- Capable of electrical repair and maintenance with minimal supervision – hands on exposure to working on power generation products (Intermediate)
- Advanced troubleshooting and repairs of generators, transfer switches, and auxiliary components
- Startup and repair of bypass transfer switch
- Mentor junior technicians including technical support and documentation (Advanced)
- Setup, troubleshoot and repair basic paralleling generator systems
- Understanding switchgear schematics
- Able to train Entry/Intermediate Technicians/Mechanics
Qualifications
- Apprentice Trained Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
- Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
- Current relevant electrical certification
- Locally valid driving permit
Education, Licenses, Certifications
- Apprentice Trained Power Generation/ Electrical Technician (Preferred)
- Vocational diploma from relevant technical institution
- Current relevant electrical certification
Experience
- Minimal level of workshop related experience required
- Basic level knowledge of and/or experience with power generation products
- High Voltage/ Low Voltage experience
