Key Responsibilities
- Install machine control systems and related components on a variety of heavy equipment in accordance with company and manufacturer standards.
- Perform system setup, testing, calibration, and post-installation verification to confirm proper operation and quality performance.
- Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve mechanical, electrical, hardware, software, and connectivity issues in the field and in the shop as needed.
- Provide service, repair, maintenance, and technical support for installed systems in a timely and professional manner.
- Deliver basic operator and end-user instruction to customers on system functionality, care, and best practices.
- Accurately document installs, service activity, test results, parts usage, and customer interactions through required service reports and paperwork.
- Communicate effectively with management, sales, and support teams regarding installation status, service issues, customer concerns, and opportunities for improvement.
- Maintain a high level of professionalism and customer service while representing Benchmark Tool & Supply at jobsites, customer locations, and company events.
- Manage workload, schedule, tools, equipment, and travel efficiently with limited supervision.
- Support demonstrations, field evaluations, and other customer-facing technical activities when needed.
- Continuously build knowledge of new machine control products, equipment platforms, and evolving construction technology solutions.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Associate degree or technical training in electronics, diesel technology, heavy equipment technology, construction technology, or a related field preferred.
- Experience installing, servicing, or supporting machine control, GPS, grade control, construction technology, or related heavy equipment systems preferred.
- Working knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems on heavy equipment.
- Experience using hand tools, diagnostic tools, and electronic/electrical test equipment.
- Basic to intermediate computer skills, including Microsoft Windows and common software applications.
- Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, schematics, and installation documentation.
- Strong troubleshooting, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and adapt in a fast-paced field environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with customers and internal teams.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel throughout the contiguous U.S.
- Ability to work a minimum of 40 hours per week and, when needed, additional hours to support customer needs.
