Field Service Engineer/ Technician

About the role

As a Field Service Specialist, you will provide advisory services to customers who own Valmet Quality Control systems. You will deliver customer support for QCS systems installed in the Pulp & Paper manufacturing process, carrying out service calls on both a preventative and reactive basis. Your work will include service and repair of products and systems to meet customers’ requirements, maintaining accurate records of job progress, delays, problems, and recommendations. You will also train customer staff in equipment maintenance and repair, conduct site audits to identify process improvement opportunities, and report on completed services with future recommendations.

Geographical scope: Primarily Georgia and Florida.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer support for Valmet Quality Control Systems (QCS) in Pulp & Paper manufacturing.
• Perform preventative and reactive service calls, including repair and maintenance of systems.
• Maintain accurate records of job progress, delays, problems, changes, and recommendations.
• Report on completed services, outlining activities, faults found, and future improvement suggestions.
• Train customer staff on equipment maintenance and repair to ensure knowledge transfer.
• Conduct audits at customer sites to analyze and record process improvement opportunities.

Requirements

• 4+ years of experience in instrumentation and electromechanics, preferably in a pulp and paper manufacturing environment.
• Technical school diploma in instrumentation, electromechanics, or mechatronics, or a university bachelor’s degree in Electro-Mechanical or similar engineering.
• Electro-mechanically inclined, computer-based system literate, and self-guided with a strong work ethic.
• Self-motivated with the ability to excel both independently and as part of a team.
• Comfortable handling customer pressure, staying focused, and collaborating effectively.
• Up to 75% travel required, including overnight stays within an assigned area; valid driver’s license necessary.

Qualifications

• Experience with ABB, Measurex, and/or Valmet QCS.
• Background in instrumentation and controls tuning.
• Understanding of paper machines and the paper-making process.
