About the role
This intermediate-level field position is responsible for performing preventive maintenance and repair on a variety of medical equipment and devices, which could include but not be limited to hospital beds, exam tables and self-service blood pressure kiosks. EMSAR provides all necessary tools and paid technical training. This position is Monday–Friday during business hours.
Responsibilities
- Perform on-site preventive maintenance and repairs on hospital beds.
- Provide intermediate-level engineering and technical service support to customers.
- Manage and complete assigned work orders using EMSAR’s service management platform (ServiceMax). Approximately 25% of daily work involves documentation and system updates.
- Maintain consistent communication with dispatchers to coordinate work assignments and scheduling.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by supervisors or management.
- Maintain a professional appearance and well-organized tools and equipment while representing EMSAR.
- May be assigned to work regularly at designated client facilities.
Qualifications
Technical And Analytical Skills
- Ability to read and interpret technical documentation, service manuals, safety procedures, and operational guidelines.
- Knowledge of commonly used field service engineering practices, procedures, and equipment.
- Intermediate-level troubleshooting and technical repair skills.
Communication & Interpersonal Skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to maintain positive working relationships with internal teams and external clients.
Organization & Time Management
- Ability to prioritize tasks, plan work efficiently, and manage time effectively.
- Capable of working independently with limited supervision while following established guidelines.
Minimum Education & Experience
- Option 1: High School Diploma or equivalent and 2–4 years of technical or field service experience.
- Option 2: Associate’s degree or trade/technical school certification and 1+ year of technical experience (internship, apprenticeship, or externship acceptable).
Additional Requirements
- Valid driver’s license and proof of liability insurance.
- Ability to operate personal, fleet, or rental vehicles.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and stair climbing while performing service work.
- Extended periods of computer use for service documentation and reporting.
- Ability to use both hands to handle tools and small components without restriction.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and move equipment up to 125 lbs.
- Regional travel, including day and occasional overnight trips.
