ASML’s Customer Support (CS) organization is responsible for installations, qualification, repair, and maintenance of ASML systems at customer sites, as well as transferring necessary know-how to the customer. Local site Customer Support branches handle these tasks regionally.
About the role
The Field Service Engineer engages daily with customers and interfaces with senior engineers, line managers, internal stakeholders, and external clients. You will independently solve problems and execute defined action plans for regular and irregular maintenance activities, running diagnostics and maintenance while being reviewed on end results.
Responsibilities
- Perform administrative and coordination duties, including pass-downs, work orders, field service reports, system problem reports, and monthly reports.
- Prepare written technical reports independently.
- Maintain and service HMI MBI and SBI equipment at customer sites in a cleanroom, working up to 12 hours in a cleanroom Gore-Tex suit.
- Periodically install new equipment, perform upgrades on existing equipment, and handle system relocations.
- Utilize the escalation process, including 2L Tech Support, applications, and 3L Global Support Center, by providing clear technical communication and problem statement clarification.
- Advise customers on actions to correct system malfunctions.
- Interface daily with external customers to train them in equipment use and maintenance, answer questions, and provide technical assistance.
- Interface with internal customers, including junior and senior engineering teams, equipment, apps, and line managers.
- Coach junior engineers in their growth and development.
- Provide inputs for improvement proposals based on post-mortems and drive solutions where possible.
- Contribute to work preparation by creating technical action plans with consultation (TS/Apps/GSC).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering field.
- 2–4 years of hands-on experience with mechanical systems, pneumatics, hydraulics, electronics, or semiconductor processes.
- Proficiency in MS Office, including Excel VBA.

Other Information
- This position requires access to controlled technology as defined by U.S. Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. 730, et seq.). Candidates must be legally authorized to access such technology prior to beginning work.
- Occasional lifting and/or moving of up to 50 pounds unaided.
- Work is conducted at customer sites, requiring familiarity with customer rules and policies regarding worksite behavior and safety.
- More than 50% of time spent inside a cleanroom working with electromechanical equipment.
- Domestic and international travel may be required based on business needs and training requirements.
- Ability to work a compressed workweek and potential night or weekend shifts.
