Field Service Engineer - Early Career Engineering Training Program

During your first 12 months, you will complete training in Orlando, FL and Houston, TX (Deer Park), including on-the-job training at multiple customer sites across the U.S. After training, you’ll supervise technicians during power plant maintenance shutdowns, coordinate upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems, and serve as the primary customer contact during outages. You will travel throughout North America to support maintenance, inspections, repairs, upgrades, and commissioning activities on gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment.

Responsibilities

• Complete classroom and instructor-led training in Orlando, FL and Houston, TX, followed by on-the-job training at customer sites.
• Supervise technicians and mechanics during planned and unplanned power plant maintenance shutdowns.
• Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and reassemble turbines and generators.
• Coordinate upgrades to mechanical and electrical systems to increase power output and efficiency.
• Collaborate with worldwide engineering staff to perform niche mechanical and electrical testing.
• Serve as the primary customer contact during outages, ensuring timely and accurate repairs.
• Travel to power generation facilities across North America to support maintenance, inspections, repairs, upgrades, and commissioning activities.
• Assist with equipment disassembly, inspection, and reassembly.
• Develop expertise in power generation systems, field engineering practices, project management, technical leadership, safety, and customer engagement.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field required by start date (January or February 2027).
• Ability to travel 200-250 days per year, with deployments ranging from 2 to 15 weeks at a time.
• Willingness to work extended hours (12-14 hours per day, including weekends and holidays) with a typical work week totaling 60-84 hours.
• Ability to ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, and endure outdoor weather conditions.
• Must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without employer-sponsored work authorization.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (required for the position).

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $72,000–$79,000. Specific offers are determined by factors such as experience, skills, certifications, and business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on individual qualifications. In addition to a competitive base salary, eligible employees may benefit from overtime earnings, premium holiday pay, travel-related compensation, and annual performance incentives.
