Field Service Engineer - Early Career Engineering Training Program

About the role
Join our world-class Field Service organization and be part of maintaining and upgrading some of the most powerful electrical generation machinery, including gas and steam turbines and generators.
During your first 12 months, you will complete classroom and instructor-led training in Orlando, FL and Houston, TX (Deer Park) and participate in on-the-job training with expert engineers at multiple customer sites across the US. This will include working directly with our leading staff of field service engineers to develop skills in equipment operation, maintenance, job site safety, project management, leadership, and Siemens Energy’s business systems.
Once you complete training as a Field Service Engineer, you’ll supervise technicians and mechanics during power plant maintenance shutdowns (both planned and unplanned) and be responsible for disassembling, inspecting, and reassembling turbines and generators. You will coordinate the upgrading of mechanical and electrical systems on turbine generators to increase power output and efficiency, while also collaborating with our worldwide engineering staff to perform niche mechanical and electrical testing. As the primary customer contact during outages, you will ensure that repairs are made in a timely and accurate manner.
You will travel to power generation facilities throughout North America to support maintenance, inspections, repairs, upgrades, and commissioning activities on gas turbines, steam turbines, generators, and auxiliary equipment. Additionally, you will assist with equipment disassembly, inspection, troubleshooting, and reassembly, and collaborate closely with customers, field technicians, engineers, and service teams to develop expertise in power generation systems and field engineering practices, as well as learn project management, technical leadership, safety, and customer engagement skills.
Responsibilities

Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Engineering Technology, or a related field required by start date (January or February 2027).
- Enjoy solving complex mechanical problems using both mind and hands while working closely with teams and customers.
- Self-starting leader who utilizes resources to build innovative solutions to challenging mechanical issues.
- Open to extensive travel: 200-250 days per year, with deployments ranging from 2 to 15 weeks at a time.
- Willing to work extended hours (12-14 hours per day, including weekends and holidays) with a typical work week totaling 60-84 hours.
- Ability to ascend/descend ladders, work in confined spaces, lift up to 40 pounds, endure outdoor weather conditions, walk long distances, and share cramped office trailers.
- Legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record (required for the position).

Pay
The base salary range for this position is $72,000–$79,000. Specific offers are determined by factors such as experience, skills, certifications, and business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on individual qualifications.
