About the Role

The Field Service Engineer 1 performs on-time and accurate Preventative Maintenance on one or more modalities of equipment. This role involves learning troubleshooting, repair, and equipment installation techniques while driving customer satisfaction through Service Excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to complete on-time and accurate Preventative Maintenance, Field Modification Instructions (FMIs), and/or Instrument Service Information (ISIs) bulletins.
  • Assist experienced field engineers with equipment installation.
  • Work with experienced field engineers on basic troubleshooting and service repair needs for designated equipment.
  • Effectively communicate and partner with teammates, colleagues, and customers to ensure resolution and proper follow-up, leading to customer satisfaction.
  • Partner with customers to recommend value-added services that improve business efficiency.
  • Maintain customer service logs, internal service records, order repair parts, and manage cycle times.
  • Utilize the GEHC escalation process and collaborate with regional and national support to implement corrective action plans for customer issues.
  • Serve as a member of the account community for key accounts.
  • Engage with commercial counterparts, identify sales leads, participate in contract renewals, and assist in revenue programs.
  • Focus on customer needs and satisfaction while building strong customer relationships.
  • Stay updated with competitor information and market trends.
  • Answer service calls independently within one year of employment.

Requirements

  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field; OR equivalent military education; OR participation in the formal GEHC Biomed/FE Services Internship or Military Externship program; OR High School Diploma/GED and 4+ years of experience servicing electronic equipment.
  • Experience with web applications and Microsoft Office products.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Willingness to be available "after hours" or work a rotating on-call schedule, including weekends, for critical issues.

Special Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 35 lbs. unassisted.
  • Frequent bending, stooping, twisting, climbing, crouching/squatting, kneeling/crawling, and sitting/standing for long periods.
  • Ability to reach at, above, and below shoulder level, flex/extend neck, and maintain good hand and finger dexterity.
  • Specific vision abilities required: color vision, close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
