Field Service Controls Technician
Essential Responsibilities
- Independently and collaboratively service and maintain electrical controls equipment commonly utilized in the water and wastewater industry.
- Perform installation, startup, and calibration of process instrumentation including flow meters, pressure transmitters, level, temperature, and analytical instrumentation.
- Execute startup, troubleshooting, retrofits, and repairs of pump control systems, including basic across-the-line control systems to soft starters, and Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs) and specialty pump controllers.
- Conduct electrical wiring, conduit installations, and control panel setups, including complete service entrance equipment.
- Assist in planning, installing, repairing, and troubleshooting new or modified electrical systems.
- Act as an Emergency Field Service Responder, available to travel and work outside normal business hours as required.
Qualifications & Skills Required
- A High School diploma or GED is required; a degree from a Technical or Vocational School in Mechanics or Electronics is highly preferred.
- Proven ability to troubleshoot electrical control systems and willingness to work overtime on short notice.
- Strong communication and organizational skills with a proactive, customer-focused attitude.
- Comfortable working in fast-paced environments and adapting quickly to changing priorities.
- Basic proficiency with computer applications including Gmail, Microsoft Word, and Excel.
- Physical capability to lift and maneuver heavy objects, parts, equipment, and materials.
- Able to work effectively under minimal supervision.

As a Field Service Controls Technician at Cogent, you will be expected to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt quickly to changing priorities. The schedule may vary based on project needs and may require occasional overtime.
