Our solid oxide fuel cell (SOFC) and solid oxide electrolyzer (SOEC) technologies deliver energy abundance for all, with over 30,000 fuel cell modules deployed worldwide. As a Field Service Commissioning Technician, you will support our mission by ensuring the reliable operation of our cutting-edge energy systems in the Northeast Region, reporting to the Field Service Manager in Connecticut.

Responsibilities

  • Provide fuel cell service during field visit dispatches
  • Operate a service vehicle safely
  • Create daily workflows for oneself from a list of scheduled tasks, working autonomously
  • Manage on-site preventative maintenance, repair, test, and diagnostic tasks
  • Travel domestically and internationally to support company needs, including commissioning new installations
  • Follow company procedures and protocols
  • Diagnose errors or technical problems and determine/implement proper solutions
  • Cooperate with a technical team and share information across the organization
  • Comprehend and follow customer access requirements
  • Maintain service vehicle and spare part inventory
  • Maintain and build positive relationships with customers
  • Produce timely and detailed service reports as required
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Requirements

  • Required to reside within the Service District
  • Two initial training sessions of up to four weeks each in San Jose, CA

Qualifications

The following MINIMUM levels of experience and/or education are required:

  • High school diploma & 6 years’ experience in electrical, process controls, or electro-mechanical fields; or
  • Technical diploma, Journeymen Certification, or Electrician Certification in a technical field and 4 years of relevant industry experience (e.g., electrician, electronics technician, field service technician, test engineer); or
  • 5 years or more of relevant experience in commercial electrical, combined with electrical-related military experience (e.g., Navy Nuclear Electronics/Electrical Technician, military-certified electrician or technician, Gas Turbine Electrician)

Skills

  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Familiarity with safety standards, especially OSHA & NFPA 70E
  • Prior experience as an electrician or electrical technician working with:
    • Three-phase systems
    • Uninterruptible power supplies
    • Electrical generation and distribution systems
    • Power electronics
    • Automatic transfer switches
    • Microprocessor-based control platforms
  • Experience with electrical/electronic test and measurement equipment
  • Able to read and interpret electrical single line diagrams and blueprints
  • Experience performing equipment maintenance in accordance with ANSI/NETA standards for Electrical Power
  • Mechanical system aptitude, including troubleshooting and repair skills
  • Highly motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Sound judgment in resolving complex problems
  • Team player with a high level of integrity and professionalism
  • Effective written and verbal communication in English
  • Able to execute against written and verbal procedures and sequenced work instructions
  • Physical ability to:
    • Regularly handle equipment up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 70 lbs.
    • Reach, squat, bend, and twist during the workday
    • Use a ladder or stepstool regularly
    • Work at height while following all safety training and procedures
  • Able to facilitate 24/7 on-call duty and shift work as needed (e.g., one week/month of Wednesday–Sunday)
  • Able to support overtime regularly to achieve quarterly goals
  • Able to travel (drive) throughout a large Service District (e.g., Connecticut and Upstate New York)
  • Able to travel domestically and internationally as needed
  • Able to maintain a driving record in good standing

Pay

Salary range: $28.02 – $40.32 per hour
