G&W’s Aftermarket Apprentice Program (AAP) gives selected employees the chance to blend on-the-job training, work experience, and classroom instruction so they can master the skills needed to support customers after product delivery and become a skilled member of the G&W team.

Program oversight

The AAP Steering Committee is responsible for:

  • Program administration
  • Applicant selection
  • Establishing minimum standards of education, experience, and performance
  • Determining required classroom training
  • Selecting and training on-the-job trainers
  • Ensuring the quantity and quality of on-the-job experience
  • Evaluating apprentice progression
  • Maintaining all program records
  • Certifying competence at each step
  • Increasing wages when competence is demonstrated
  • Awarding the Certificate of Completion upon satisfactory finish

The committee meets monthly to monitor objectives and quarterly to assess progress and plan the next quarter’s activities, including competency assessments.

Eligibility & selection

  • Current G&W employees with at least one year of tenure and no performance or attendance issues
  • No formal disciplinary action within the prior six months
  • Online application via Clear Company, including a resume

All eligible candidates will be interviewed by the committee; selection is based on current-role performance and interview results.

Program structure

  • One-year duration
  • Approximately 168 days of on-the-job training in work cells
  • Remaining time spent in classroom training, assisting field service, product support, and the RGA team

After the rotation, the apprentice returns to their work cell and remains “on-call” for AMS field service.

Apprentice responsibilities

  • Perform aftermarket technician duties and other assigned tasks to the best of their ability
  • Respect G&W property, tools, and all company policies
  • Attend and complete all required classroom hours with a grade of ‘C’ or better
  • Maintain and provide records of work experience and training

Schedule & travel

  • Classroom days as scheduled; on-the-job instruction primarily on first shift
  • Field service may require any shift, weekends, or up to 80 % travel after program completion
  • Apprentices must be able to work all shifts for field service with proper notice

Tools & education support

  • G&W supplies a starter set of tools and safety equipment for field service
  • External coursework is covered under the Educational Assistance Program
  • Attendance at all classes is mandatory; progress depends on a good attendance record

Repayment

Any repayment obligations follow the terms of the Educational Assistance Program.
