Field Sales Consultant, Exteriors

Position Purpose: A Home Services Sales Consultant sells the Company’s exterior and interior products and services through outside sales visits to customer homes and trade shows. The role involves traveling to customers’ homes to assess needs, provide tailored recommendations, develop and negotiate price quotes, present warranty and financing options, and close sales while maintaining profitability.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customers’ homes to conduct professional sales presentations and adapt to changing customer needs.
• Assess customer needs, develop customized price quotes, and measure product specifications using industry-standard methods.
• Present warranty and financing options to meet customer requirements.
• Complete sales contracts, paperwork, and incidental activities to finalize sales.
• Prospect for new customers inside and outside assigned THD stores and participate in industry events (e.g., Home Shows).
• Proactively seek referrals and build relationships with store management and associates.
• Attend sales and store team meetings to refine techniques and stay updated on HDIS product offerings.

Requirements

• Must be 18 years or older and legally permitted to work in the United States.
• 1+ years of previous related work experience (e.g., in-home sales, home improvement, or lead generation).
• Ability to continuously stand, walk, or lift/carry materials weighing 8–20 pounds.
• Comfort working in environments with moderate physical discomfort (e.g., dust, fumes, or odors).
• High school diploma or GED required; no advanced education necessary.
• Proficiency with technology (email, iPad, apps) and strong computer/application skills.
• Typically requires overnight travel 5% of the time.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior in-home or virtual sales experience.
• Experience in the home improvement industry.
