About the Role

The Field Representative serves as the liaison between The Salvation Army Service Extension Department and volunteers, businesses, donors, potential donors, and people in need in the assigned area (Mass Bay, Metrowest, North Shore). The role focuses on increasing income through fundraising efforts, including kettle campaigns and new money initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, train, and supervise volunteers for assigned service units.
  • Submit required reports on time and maintain organized records.
  • Attend staff, community, and other meetings as requested.
  • Coordinate fundraising programs (kettles, donor letters, special events, etc.) through service unit committees.
  • Meet all fundraising goals, including combined income targets.
  • Meet with active coalitions quarterly (or more often as needed) to provide/receive updates.
  • Post regularly to the Department Facebook page.
  • Communicate with funding sources as necessary.
  • Fulfill speaking engagements to promote The Salvation Army’s programs and services.
  • Provide educational and informational orientation to volunteers and donors.
  • Identify community needs and develop programs to address them.
  • Perform emergency assistance tasks, including client services, special projects, and seasonal activities.
  • Handle office and clerical duties when necessary.
  • Participate in The Salvation Army’s Emergency Disaster work as requested.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by your supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications and/or business.
  • 2–4 years’ experience in a non-profit community (preferred).
  • Experience fundraising for a non-profit.
  • Experience recruiting/working with volunteers and/or volunteer groups.
  • Highly motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written skills.
  • Ability to lift 30–40 lbs (e.g., kettle equipment, signs).
  • Must be cleared to drive a personal vehicle for business purposes.
  • Must provide evidence of successful fundraising or significant increase in sales income.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint).

Pay

Annual salary range: $42,437–$78,865. Expected hiring range: $50,000–$56,000, depending on experience and qualifications.

Schedule

35 hours per week. Exempt position.
