About the role

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as the intermediary between Mount Adams Fruit management and pear, apple, and cherry growers.
  • Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with existing growers.
  • Recruit and develop relationships with prospective growers who may be a good fit for Mount Adams Fruit.
  • Communicate company needs, expectations, quality standards, packing requirements, delivery requirements, and seasonal priorities to growers.
  • Provide basic horticultural support throughout the growing season, including field observations, crop condition updates, and general production guidance.
  • Monitor orchard conditions, crop progress, fruit quality, maturity, pest concerns, weather impacts, and harvest readiness.
  • Cook up with growers and internal teams regarding harvest schedules, crop estimates, delivery timing, bin needs, transportation, and warehouse capacity.
  • Help ensure fruit deliveries are aligned with company expectations for quality, timing, documentation, and handling.
  • Support accurate crop forecasting by collecting field information, monitoring fruit development, and communicating updates to management.
  • Aid with grower communications related to packing specifications, food safety requirements, regulatory standards, certifications, and documentation.
  • Help ensure grower compliance with applicable regulations, company policies, food safety standards, pesticide-use requirements, labor-related documentation, and industry expectations.
  • Work with warehouse, quality control, production, logistics, and management teams to resolve grower-related issues.
  • Identify and communicate concerns related to crop quality, harvest timing, delivery logistics, storage needs, or regulatory compliance.
  • Respond to grower questions and concerns in a timely, professional, and practical manner.
  • Maintain accurate records related to grower contacts, crop estimates, orchard visits, delivery schedules, compliance items, and field observations.
  • Participate in seasonal planning meetings, harvest coordination discussions, grower meetings, and post-season reviews.
  • Support continuous improvement in grower communication, field reporting, logistics coordination, and crop quality outcomes.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in agriculture, horticulture, orchard operations, fruit production, field services, grower relations, or a related role.
  • Working knowledge of pear, apple, cherry, or tree-fruit production practices.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with growers, warehouse teams, management, logistics staff, and quality personnel.
  • Ability to observe orchard conditions and communicate practical recommendations or concerns.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage seasonal priorities, grower communication, and field schedules.
  • Ability to coordinate harvest logistics, delivery expectations, and operational details.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to respond to changing field, weather, harvest, and warehouse conditions.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and communicate updates clearly.
  • Comfortable working outdoors, visiting orchards, driving between grower locations, and operating in a seasonal agricultural environment.
  • Professional judgment, reliability, and commitment to representing the company well with growers.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with commercial pear, apple, or cherry growers.
  • Experience in a packing house, fruit warehouse, orchard management company, agricultural cooperative, or produce operation.
  • Familiarity with fruit maturity testing, crop estimating, harvest timing, pest and disease concerns, irrigation practices, pruning, thinning, and quality standards.
  • Knowledge of food safety programs, GAP, GlobalG.A.P., organic certification, pesticide records, worker safety requirements, or agricultural compliance standards.
  • Experience coordinating bin placement, trucking, delivery schedules, harvest crews, or warehouse intake.
  • Bilingual communication skills are a plus, depending on grower and workforce needs.
  • Degree or coursework in horticulture, agriculture, plant science, crop science, agribusiness, or a related field is helpful but not required.
