Company Overview
Harbinger is an American commercial electric‑vehicle (EV) company dedicated to transforming an industry that lacks innovation. The team of EV, battery, and drivetrain experts has created a first‑of‑its‑kind EV platform for medium‑duty EVs and hybrids.
About the Role
As a Field Quality Engineer – Vehicle Systems and Integration, you will act as the front‑line detective ensuring next‑generation electric vehicles meet industry standards for uptime and durability. You will bridge real‑world performance and engineering design through hands‑on troubleshooting and advanced data analytics, solving complex problems before they affect customers.
Responsibilities
- Failure Analysis & Troubleshooting: Serve as the primary technical expert diagnosing complex, systemic issues across mechanical, electrical, and software domains.
- Predictive Reliability: Use statistical tools to identify potential failure modes and forecast when they might occur.
- Product Reliability Engineering: Partner with hardware and software teams to implement reliability growth plans and translate field data into design improvements.
- Data Management & Analytics: Own the feedback loop by managing field performance data, ensuring it is clean, categorized, and routed to engineering sprints for rapid iteration.
- Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Service, Engineering, and Manufacturing to close the loop on Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and Corrective Actions (CAPA).
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Reliability Engineering (or equivalent experience).
- 3–10 years of experience in Field Quality, Reliability Engineering, or a highly technical Service Engineering role within the EV or automotive sector.
- Proficiency with data‑management tools such as SQL, Python, or specialized BI platforms.
- Hands‑on experience using diagnostic equipment (oscilloscopes, multimeters, CANalyzer/CANoe).
- Willingness to travel to customer sites as needed.
- Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems (chassis, drivetrain), electrical architectures (high‑voltage systems, wiring harnesses), and software integration (CAN bus communication, OTA updates).
- Strong analytical and structured problem‑solving skills, using field data, testing, and engineering judgment to identify root causes and evaluate corrective actions.
- Comfortable working in the field, under a vehicle, or in a lab environment.
- Excellent communication skills to translate technical data into clear reports for leadership and actionable tasks for engineering teams.
