About the role
Convergint is seeking a full-time Field Project Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will manage the installation, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and customer training for assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. They will also oversee the project team to ensure projects are completed within contractual scope, budget, and timelines.
Responsibilities
- Oversees overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.
- Works with the Project Coordinator to prepare project installation plan and implement job procedures.
- Supervises Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors in the field.
- Makes recommendations regarding potential changes in scope and identifies ways to continuously improve customer satisfaction.
- Identifies potential project risks, communicates to appropriate parties, and assists in the development and implementation of strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and project deadlines.
- Responsible for overall quality of the installation in accordance with national and local codes, and company standards.
- Installs, programs, tests, repairs, and services a variety of systems and equipment which may include security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
- Acts as the primary point of contact for customer technical support and training.
Requirements
- Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
- Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
- Strong field supervision skills and proven ability to troubleshoot problems and look for solutions.
- Self-starter with the ability to work well without supervision.
- Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g. works with a variety of hand and power tools).
- Advanced math skills (for some positions, this may include calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage, etc.).
- Frequent visits to jobsites are required. Minimal overnight travel is required.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Advanced organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
- Highly proficient computer skills including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Excellent understanding of blueprints, design drawings including wiring and labeling methods, system wiring, wiring methods, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support).
- Very familiar with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and other specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted.
- Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
Qualifications
- Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum Experience: 5-7 years of relevant experience.
- Preferred Experience: Experience in 1 or more of the following industries: electronic, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation.
