About the Role

Convergint is seeking a full-time, enthusiastic, results-driven, and forward-thinking Field Project Manager to join our team. In this role, you will oversee the installation, programming, system start-up/check-out, certification, and customer training for assigned Fire, Security, and/or Building Automation projects. You will collaborate with management and the administrative project team to ensure projects are executed effectively within contractual scope, budget, and schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee overall site management of project(s) for successful and timely completion within budget and scope of work as required by the contract.
  • Work with the Project Coordinator to prepare the project installation plan and implement job procedures.
  • Supervise Project Specialists, Installers, and subcontractors in the field, including mentoring, coaching, and developing colleagues.
  • Coordinate and supervise subcontractors, directing on-site activities and verifying quality assurance standards.
  • Assist in the overall coordination of specific projects, making recommendations for potential changes in scope and identifying ways to improve customer satisfaction.
  • Identify potential project risks, communicate them to appropriate parties, and assist in developing strategies to minimize impact and control deviations from estimated costs and deadlines.
  • Ensure the overall quality of installations in accordance with national and local codes and company standards.
  • Install, program, test, repair, and service systems and equipment, including security, fire alarm & life safety, and/or building automation systems.
  • Serve as the key interface for technical support and training for the customer, ensuring maximum customer satisfaction.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as requested or required.

Requirements

  • Exceptional customer focus and ability to work under pressure.
  • Strong supervision skills and installation experience related to building automation systems, fire alarm systems, and/or electronic security systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot problems and find solutions.
  • Self-starter who works well without supervision.
  • Advanced mechanical and electrical aptitude (e.g., using hand and power tools such as drills, screwdrivers, wire strippers, hacksaws, crimpers).
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and drawings; advanced math skills (e.g., calculating area, velocity, resistance, voltage).
  • Frequent visits to jobsites; minimal overnight travel required. Valid driver’s license required.
  • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Advanced organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Excellent understanding of blueprints, design drawings, wiring methods, and cable support installation (J-Hook, Raceway, Conduit, Cable Support).
  • Familiarity with basic blueprints, schematics, manuals, and specifications to determine installation procedures unassisted.

Qualifications

  • Education: College degree, trade school, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum Experience: 5-7 relevant years.
  • Preferred Experience:
    • Experience in electronic security or related industries.
    • Hands-on experience leading a crew of installers with access control and CCTV/video management systems.
    • At least 1-2 access control certifications (e.g., Lenel OnGuard, Software House CCURE, or Genetec).
    • At least 1-2 CCTV/VMS certifications (e.g., Milestone, Genetec, or Avigilon).
